The experience
The guide picks you up at your hotel and drives to one of three climbing areas (San Sebas, La Meca, or Tlacochahuaya), then walks you ten minutes to the rock face. Once there, you survey the routes available: some are beginner-friendly, others demand more experience. The guide recommends based on what you tell them about your climbing history, and you choose which routes to tackle. You have three hours to work through as many as you want, with the valley spreading out below as you climb.
Safety equipment (harness, rope, helmet) comes with you, and climbing shoes are provided if you need them. Snacks are built into the experience, so you eat between pitches without leaving the site. The guide stays with you the whole time, managing the rope and watching your form. When you're ready to come down, you rappel: the same route you climbed becomes a controlled descent on belay, with the guide anchoring you from below.
After three hours, you pack up the gear and head back to your hotel. The whole outing, from pickup to drop-off, takes about four hours. Public transportation runs near the climbing areas if you prefer to meet the guide there instead of arranging pickup.
