The experience
The activity begins at Tortuguero Camp with a local guide who explains sea turtle ecology and why these species matter to the ecosystem. You'll receive a newborn hatchling, give it a name, and then walk together across the beach as the sun sets. Watching your turtle take its first journey into the ocean is the centerpiece of the two hours you spend there.
The release happens on an unspoilt beach, and the timing around sunset frames the moment. This is built for families and works for all fitness levels. Infants can participate if held by an adult. The activity fosters respect for the environment through direct participation rather than observation alone.
