The experience

You meet at the shop near the beach and sign a waiver before walking a block to the sand. The guide starts with instruction on dry land, showing you how to stand on the board and paddle. Once you understand the mechanics, you get in the water to practice what you just learned, then paddle toward the Malecon, Puerto Vallarta's boardwalk, where you can see the downtown from the ocean instead of from the street.

The whole session runs two hours, and you set the pace: the guide lets you decide how far out you want to go before you turn back. Paddleboards and a guide are included. You bring a moderate level of fitness and a willingness to get wet. Children as young as seven can join, and the guide speaks English or Spanish.

Is this one for you?Book this if your group has at least two people and you want hands-on instruction from someone who stays with you the whole time. The fixed two-hour window and beach-to-water progression work well for families with kids seven and up, or for anyone new to paddleboarding who wants to learn the basics before heading out on the water.
