Private turtle release tour in Escobilla with hotel pickup
Release baby turtles into the sea yourself at Mexico's largest nesting site
A private turtle release tour at Escobilla Ecotourism Center, Mexico's most important sea turtle nesting beach, where you help release hatchlings into the ocean and learn about species preservation from a certified guide. Hotel pickup and entrance are included; the tour runs 4 hours and operates with a live guide in English or Spanish.
Step-by-step itinerary
Turtle release at Escobilla beach
- Go to hotel pickup
- Travel to Escobilla Ecotourism Center
- Learn about turtle species preservation
- Observe turtle release into the sea
- Take photos on Escobilla beach
The Experience
You're picked up from your hotel and driven to Escobilla Ecotourism Center, home to Mexico's most significant sea turtle nesting grounds. The beach itself is where the work happens—this is not a viewing platform or an observation deck. You'll stand on the sand where the turtles nest, and your guide will walk you through the entire care process: how the eggs are protected, how the hatchlings are raised, and why this particular stretch of coast matters so much to the species' survival.
The release is the core of the experience. You'll hold the baby turtles and place them into the sea yourself, watching them begin their life cycle in the ocean. Your certified guide, speaking English or Spanish, explains the importance of preserving each species that reaches these beaches and answers questions as the hatchlings make their way into the water. The site may occasionally shift to the Palmarito turtle camp depending on conditions, but the release experience remains the same. You'll also have time to take photos on the Escobilla beach before heading back to your hotel.
The whole tour takes 4 hours from pickup to return. Round-trip hotel transfer is included, so you don't arrange your own ride to the center. Infants can come along if they sit on an adult's lap, and the activity suits all fitness levels—there's no hiking or strenuous walking involved, just time on the beach and in the shallow water for the release itself.
