The Experience
We met up just after sunrise, when the air in Mazunte still felt cool and salty. Our photographer—Andrea—greeted us near the little café by the main road (I think it was Café Panchito). She’s lived here for years and knows every hidden corner where the light hits just right. I’m not usually comfortable in front of a camera, but she cracked a joke about my hat and suddenly it felt like we were old friends.
We wandered down sandy paths lined with wildflowers and the smell of fresh tortillas drifting from a nearby vendor. Andrea guided us gently, showing how to stand or move so nothing looked forced. At one point, she pulled out her drone—honestly, I didn’t expect that—and got some wild overhead shots with the ocean behind us. She shared stories about Mazunte’s history as we walked, pointing out spots only locals know for photos that really pop.
