Jungle trails on a horse matched to your size and skill

A 1.5-hour horseback ride through jungle terrain near Punta Sam, where horses are assigned based on your age, height, weight and experience level. You ride a mix of narrow and wider trails with a stop midway, and return to the ranch for complimentary beverages and snacks. The ranch prioritizes horse welfare and works with rescued animals.

The experience

The ranch assigns each rider a horse based on personality, age, height, weight (200 lbs maximum) and experience level. Before you mount, a briefing covers what to expect on the trail. Helmets and mosquito repellent are provided. The ride itself moves through narrow jungle paths and wider stretches, with a midway stop where the guide points out things tailored to what interests you: no two rides follow the same route because the pace and stops shift with each group.

Very experienced riders can trot and canter if conditions allow. Water is available during the ride. When you return to the ranch, the morning slot includes coffee, tea or juice and small pastries beforehand. The afternoon ride ends with a choice of chilled wine, cold beer or non-alcoholic drinks, plus light snacks. Rides depart at 9:30am and 2:00pm every day except Sunday. You'll need to arrive 20 minutes early to sign a waiver.

The ranch operates as a small sanctuary for horses that have experienced abuse or neglect, and animal welfare shapes every decision about how rides are run and matched. The operation has won multiple awards, including two-time Winner of Unique Experience of the Year by the Luxury Travel Guide.

What’s included
