You’ll snorkel shipwrecks, vibrant reefs, and El Cielo’s starfish sands—all from a glass bottom boat with local guides, fresh snacks, and your choice of drinks. It’s a laid-back way to see Cozumel’s best underwater spots with a few surprises thrown in.
Salt clung to my lips as we set out from San Miguel, the boat’s glass bottom giving us a sneak peek at the turquoise world below. Our captain, José, cracked a joke about his playlist—mostly old cumbia tunes—and handed out masks and fins. The breeze was just right, not too strong, and you could smell grilled corn drifting over from a food cart back at the pier.
First stop: two shipwrecks, both half-swallowed by coral and swaying sea fans. Our dive master, Ana, pointed out a school of angelfish weaving through rusted beams—she said they’re regulars here. I floated above the wreckage, watching sunlight flicker over the metal like coins in water. The current was gentle that morning, so we had plenty of time to explore.
Next came the reef—alive with parrotfish and those tiny electric-blue damselfish darting everywhere. Ana handed me a piece of fresh pineapple between swims (she swears it keeps your mask from fogging up). Then we cruised south to El Cielo and El Cielito, where the sand feels powdery underfoot and starfish dot the shallows like orange polka dots. It’s quieter than I expected—just the slap of water against the hull and someone laughing about how cold the first dip feels.
Back on board, there were homemade snacks—little empanadas and fruit—and cold drinks waiting. A couple from Munich tried the German beer (the “Bavarian Package,” they called it), while I stuck to a tangy margarita. The crew kept things relaxed but always checked on everyone’s gear and comfort. They mentioned that sometimes, if the wind picks up or currents shift, they’ll switch up stops for safety—but honestly, every spot felt special.
Yes! The guides are patient and will help with gear or swimming tips. The current is usually mild, but let us know if you’re nervous in the water.
Kids are welcome and can stay on board if they prefer. Non-swimmers can use life vests or just enjoy the view through the glass bottom.
If wind or currents pick up, we might adjust our stops for safety—but you’ll still visit top snorkeling spots on Cozumel’s south side.
Mexican beer and margaritas are included; German beer is available with an extra charge for guests 21+.
You’ll get all your snorkel gear, fresh-made snacks (think fruit and little empanadas), sodas, Mexican beer, and margaritas. German beer’s available for an extra fee if you fancy something different. Our crew looks after everything—you just show up ready to swim.
