Cancun fishing happens 3 to 20 miles offshore, where the Caribbean holds marlin, sailfish, tuna and dorado year-round. You board the Bertram 31ft with a crew that knows the grounds and the fish. They rig your rods, tie on fresh bait and show you how to work the trolling lines and bottom-fishing setup. The boat runs with a maximum of six people, so there is room to move and no crowding at the rail.

The hours you choose shape the day. A 2-hour lake fishing option works for a quick morning or afternoon. The 4, 6 and 8-hour offshore charters push farther out where the bigger fish run. Trolling covers water and finds feeding fish. Bottom fishing holds you over structure where they gather. The crew reads the conditions, sets the depth and tells you when to strike. You do the fighting. The rod work is yours, and the moment a fish takes the line is the moment the day becomes real.

What you bring is the willingness to hold a rod and the patience to wait for the bite.
