You’ll get hands-on surf coaching in Sayulita with friendly local guides and small groups. It’s a relaxed way to try surfing—even if you’ve never touched a board before. All gear, snacks, and drinks are sorted for you. Just show up ready for some fun and maybe a few tumbles.
Sand stuck between my toes, I watched our instructor—Miguel—draw wobbly lines in the sand with his board. The air smelled faintly salty, and you could hear the distant clang of a vendor’s bell selling paletas up the beach. We started with a quick warm-up and some laughs as we practiced popping up on the boards right there on the shore. Miguel kept it light, cracking jokes about our “surf faces” and making sure nobody felt left out. The sun was already warming my shoulders, but it wasn’t too hot—just that perfect Sayulita morning breeze.
Once we hit the water, things got real. I’ll admit, paddling out was harder than it looked in those surf videos. But with just two others in my group, Miguel was always close by—shouting encouragement and giving tips when I wiped out (which happened more than once). The waves were gentle enough for beginners but still gave us a thrill when we caught them. After about an hour, arms tired and faces salty, we headed back to our spot on the sand. Cold drinks and some fresh fruit were waiting for us, and honestly, nothing’s ever tasted better after a workout like that.
Absolutely! Our instructors specialize in teaching first-timers and non-swimmers. You’ll start on the sand before heading into gentle waves.
Just bring swimwear, sunscreen, and a towel. All surf gear and refreshments are provided.
We keep groups small—usually 1 to 3 students per instructor—to make sure everyone gets personal attention.
Yes! Kids are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult during the lesson.
You’ll get all your surf and beach gear (board, rash guard), plus snacks and drinks after your session. Transportation can be arranged if you need it—just let us know ahead of time (extra fees may apply). Our local instructors are certified and super friendly.
