The experience

Bacalar Lagoon sits about an hour from Costa Maya. You'll be picked up outside the cruise ship port complex or from your hotel and driven in a private air-conditioned vehicle to the marina on the lagoon's edge. Once there, you board a private boat with an attentive crew and set out into the water. The lagoon's different shades of blue (which earn it the nickname "Seven-Color Lagoon") become obvious as soon as you're on the water. You'll have time to swim in the clear water and take in the views while the captain prepares fresh fruit snacks: pineapple, mango and chips.

After the boat portion wraps up, the crew takes you to a local restaurant for lunch. You'll order authentic Mexican tacos (pork, beef or shrimp) served with guacamole, plus beer and tequila are included (vegetarian and vegan options are available on request).
