Step-by-step itinerary
Quad bike adventure and tasting
- Ride quad bike through village
- Cross rivers and hills
- View sunflowers and plantings
- Taste honey and mezcal
The experience
You ride your own quad bike through the village and into the highlands, following trails that cross seasonal rivers and climb into the hills. The route changes with the season (sunflower fields and planted crops appear in their time), and every ascent opens to a wider view of the Sierra Sur. The trails are moderately difficult, so you need some comfort on rough ground, but the pace lets you take in the landscape instead of just racing through it.
After the riding, you stop at a permaculture project where the guide walks you through how the land is managed for long-term yield without depleting it. You see the techniques firsthand and taste honey and mezcal made on the property. This is not a lecture. It is a working farm, and the guide explains what you are actually looking at as you move through it.
The whole outing runs three hours. You get a guide who speaks English or Spanish, water and snacks during the ride, and all the safety gear you need. Public transport reaches the meeting point, so you do not need a rental car to get there.
