The experience
The La Tigra route takes you straight onto mountain trails with no time spent on paved roads or in traffic. After a safety briefing and helmet fitting, you and your companion climb into one double ATV and ride the Sierra de Vallejo system, where the terrain shifts between open stretches and dense jungle. The guide reads the group's pace and adjusts the route as needed. The actual riding time stretches to about two hours, longer than the shorter Mirador option. A scenic stop appears somewhere along the way (the exact spot depends on conditions and what the group can handle), and near the end you reach El Mirador, a high point with a view across the mountains.
The whole outing takes roughly three and a half hours from when you're picked up to when you're dropped off. You'll wear a helmet, face mask and goggles throughout. Bottled water comes with you on the ride. Both the route and the starting trailhead can shift depending on weather and trail safety on the day. The combined weight limit for both riders on one ATV is 350 pounds.
