Agua Azul gets its striking blue color from mineral salts dissolved in the water, and the river cuts through exuberant mountain vegetation as it flows. The waterfall system spans a series of cascades where you can wade and swim in the pools between them. The constant sound of falling water and the dense green canopy overhead make this the first major stop of the day.

Misol-Ha is a single waterfall dropping roughly 30 meters from a limestone cliff into a large pool deep enough for swimming. The setting sits inside a typical high tropical jungle of the Chiapanecan highlands, with tall mahogany and chicozapote trees rising around the water. You can swim with caution in the pool below the fall, or simply stand in the spray and the mist.

The tour runs seven hours total in an air-conditioned vehicle, so the drive between the two sites and any stops along the way stay comfortable in the heat.
