The experience

The catamaran leaves Grand Baie and sails north for 90 minutes toward Coin de Mire, the rocky islet that rises sharply from the ocean. You anchor in clear blue water, jump in to snorkel around the colourful fish and rocky seabed, or stay on deck watching Pailles en Queue birds glide around the cliffs. The water is calm and the visibility is what makes the stop work. You can see what you're swimming toward, not just hoping something is there.

After Coin de Mire, the catamaran continues to Îlot Gabriel, where you disembark onto soft white sand. The lagoon is shallow and turquoise, the beach is wide and empty, and the time is yours: swim, snorkel in the lagoon, walk the shoreline or lie in the sun. There's no schedule pushing you back to the boat. While you're on the island, the crew prepares a BBQ lunch on deck. You return to the catamaran, eat with views of the lagoon and the beach you just left, and spend the afternoon lounging on the nets or in shaded areas with drinks and music before the 90-minute sail back to Grand Baie.
