White sand beaches, a lagoon, restaurants and water sports on an island 87 hectares wide

A private taxi picks you up and takes you to Trou d'Eau Douce, where you board a speedboat to Ile aux Cerfs, a leisure island in Mauritius's largest lagoon. The day includes lunch on a neighboring island, Ile aux Mangenie, where you eat typical Mauritian BBQ chicken and fish. Vegetarian options are available. Water sports like parasailing, tuberide and undersea walk are available for an additional cost. The boat ride itself passes through river areas of greenery before reaching the island.

The experience

The taxi collects you and drives to Trou d'Eau Douce on the east coast, where the speedboat departs. The boat journey itself is part of the day: it winds through greenery and natural landscape before opening onto the lagoon, and the final approach to the island gives a view of a waterfall from the water. Ile aux Cerfs spreads across 87 hectares of largely untouched land, with white sandy beaches and turquoise water. The island holds beach restaurants, an 18-hole golf course, an adventure park and a range of water sports facilities.

Lunch happens on Ile aux Mangenie, a smaller island nearby, where the meal is typical Mauritian food: grilled chicken and fish, with vegetarian plates available. After eating, you return to Ile aux Cerfs for the rest of the afternoon. The island has tranquil beaches where you can swim or rest, and if you want to try activities like parasailing, an undersea walk or a tuberide, those are bookable separately at additional cost. The whole day runs between six and eight hours.

Your transportation is air-conditioned and private, and a live guide speaks English and French throughout. Infants travel on an adult's lap. The speedboat fare to the island is separate from the taxi price and costs 2,500 rupees per person. Contact the operator directly to arrange and pay for the boat transfer when you book.
