Step-by-step itinerary

Comino visit and Gozo buggy tour

  • Explore beautiful Comino island
  • Self-drive 4x4 quad bike in Gozo
  • Enjoy sunset coastal and countryside views
  • Relax with platter and optional drink

The experience

Your afternoon starts with pickup from one of five locations across Malta (Valletta at 12:15 pm, Sliema at 12:30 pm, St Julians at 12:45 pm, Bugibba at 1 pm, or Mellieha at 1:15 pm), and transport to Comino. You get two hours to explore the island on your own before the main event: heading to Gozo for the quad bike ride itself. The guides are there to brief you on safety and show you the route, but you're the one operating the 4x4 the whole way through.

The ride follows Gozo's shoreline and inland tracks as the light changes, hitting the quieter spots and secret locations a guide who knows the island can point out. The terrain mixes coastal views with countryside passages, and the sunset timing means you're riding when the heat has dropped and the landscape shifts color. A full safety briefing and all protective gear (helmet, body protection, the works) come before you start, and the guide stays with the group throughout.

After the ride winds down, there's a relaxing platter to share and the option to order a cocktail or mocktail. Transport back to your original pickup point happens around 9:15 pm. The whole outing runs about six hours from start to finish, so plan for an evening that eats into dinner time but leaves you back at your hotel before late night.

Top questions

Can I ride the quad bike if I've never done it before?

Yes. The guides give a full safety briefing and work with all experience levels. You operate the quad bike yourself, but the guide leads the route and stays with the group, so you're not navigating solo.

What's the age requirement to drive the quad bike?

Drivers must be 21 years old or older and show a valid driving license. If you're under 21 or don't have a license, you can book a passenger ticket to ride in a shared buggy with a driver instead, though passengers can only book if traveling with someone who has booked a driver ticket.

How long do we spend on Comino before heading to Gozo?

You get two hours to explore Comino on your own before transport takes you to Gozo for the quad bike ride.

What happens if I book as a passenger without a driver?

Passenger tickets require you to travel with someone who has booked a driver ticket, as the price is based on sharing a vehicle. If you book a passenger ticket without a driver in your group, the operator may not be able to accommodate you.

What's included in the price?

The quad bike, helmet and all safety equipment, fuel, a professional guide, fully comprehensive insurance (subject to excess), a safety briefing, and private transport to and from your pickup point are all included. A platter is served after the ride. Drinks are optional and ordered separately.
