You’ll get up close with Langkawi’s famous eagle statue, ride a steep cable car up Mat Chinchang Mountain, walk across Skybridge, and enjoy local stories—all with private transport and a friendly guide.
The morning started with our guide waving at us right outside the hotel lobby—easy to spot with his bright blue shirt and big smile. We headed straight to Dataran Lang, or Eagle Square. The statue’s even bigger than it looks in photos, and you can actually hear the sea lapping nearby if you stand close enough. Our guide explained how “Lang” means eagle and “Kawi” is reddish brown—so that’s why the island’s named after these birds. He pointed out two types of eagles circling above: Brahminy Kite and White-bellied Sea Eagles. I snapped a few photos while a local vendor tried to sell us coconut ice cream (tempting, but we had more to see).
Next up was Oriental Village, where the cable cars start their climb up Mat Chinchang Mountain. It’s steeper than I expected—my ears popped halfway up! The air got cooler as we rose, and you could smell the forest below when the wind shifted through the open windows of the gondola. At the top station, our guide gave us tips on where to walk for the best views before sending us off along the nature trail to reach Skybridge. The bridge itself feels like you’re floating above everything—on clear days, you can see all the way to Thailand. After wandering around and taking in the sights (and a quick bottle of water from our driver), we met back at B Parking in Oriental Village for a smooth ride back to our hotel.
