The experience
After booking, you'll receive instructions to log into the city game app on your phone. The app uses GPS to guide you to landmarks like Notre-Dame Cathedral (built by the Jesuits between 1613 and 1621), the Walls of the Corniche (locals call it the most beautiful balcony in Europe), the Bock Casemates with their kilometres of underground tunnels, and the Grand Duke Jean Museum of Modern Art on Kirchberg. At each stop, you answer questions or complete search assignments about what you're standing in front of: no guide narrating, no set pace, no waiting for a group to catch up.
The game works in English, Spanish, Italian, French and two other languages, and it's designed for groups of up to six people playing together. You can tackle it over two hours or stretch it across four, skip stops if something else catches your eye, or come back another day and pick up where you left off. The app handles all the navigation. You just follow the GPS pins to each location and solve the puzzle there.
This works best if you have a smartphone with data and a charged battery, since the app runs on your device. Wheelchair users can access all areas and surfaces along the route. The trail suits all fitness levels, though the source notes it's not recommended for travelers with poor cardiovascular health.

Top questions
Can I do this scavenger hunt on the day I arrive, or do I need to book ahead?
You can start anytime after booking: instructions arrive immediately, and you log into the app whenever you're ready. There's no fixed departure time or group assembly, so a free afternoon or morning works perfectly.
What's the Corniche, and why is it on the route?
The Walls of the Corniche is a promenade with a panoramic view over the valley below, and locals call it the most beautiful balcony in Europe. The app guides you there as one of the main stops, and you'll answer questions about what you see from that vantage point.
Do I need to visit every location the app shows, or can I skip some?
You decide which stops to visit and in what order. The game includes landmarks across the old town, Grund, and Kirchberg, but you're free to skip any and come back to others, or finish early if you've had enough.
What happens if I run out of phone battery or lose my data connection?
The app needs your smartphone and a data connection to navigate and play. If your battery dies or you lose signal, you'll need to recharge or find WiFi to keep going: the app doesn't work offline.
Is this game suitable for children, or is it only for adults?
The game is family-friendly and works for groups of up to six people together, so children can play alongside adults. Infants and small children can ride in a pram or stroller along the route.
