The Experience
The route starts in Užupis, the artistic district across the River Vilnia known for its independent spirit and creative community, then heads out into the landscape that surrounds the city. You'll ride along Belmontas park, where a former cannon production facility and old watermill exposition sit on the water, then climb to Pūčkoriai viewing point—the geological landmark that anchors this ride. From there you can see the winding curves of the river, the dams, and the hills and valleys that make this region distinct.
The 22 km splits across three surfaces: 20% forest tracks, 30% gravel roads and 50% low-traffic paved roads, so you're not spending the whole morning on pavement. You'll pass through Pavilniai and Markučiai, two resort towns built along the Vilnia with wooden architecture that dates back centuries—Markučiai has the only serpentine in the country and a unique wooden church. The pace is set by the guide, who rides with you and knows where the best views open up and which turns matter.
Everything you need to ride is included: the mountain bike itself, helmet, bottled water to refill along the way, and the guide's knowledge of the route. The tour runs two hours, which is long enough to cover ground and see the landmarks without rushing through them. You'll need to be comfortable on a bike and have at least a moderate level of fitness—the hills are real, but the route is built for people who want to ride, not race.

How much of the 22 km is on forest trails versus paved roads?
The route breaks down to 20% forest tracks, 30% gravel roads and 50% low-traffic paved roads, so you're mixing terrain types throughout the two hours rather than spending long stretches on one surface.
What can I see in Užupis at the start of the tour?
Užupis is an artistic district across the River Vilnia with a creative local community that declared it the Independent Republic of Užupis—a place known for freedom of expression and unconventional art. The tour starts there before heading into the countryside.
