The experience

The play draws from Buddhist scriptures and Lao folklore to show the Buddha's path to enlightenment and how compassion and wisdom guide all beings through cycles of rebirth. The stage production uses live performance and video projection to recreate Buddhist concepts like karma, reincarnation and the journey from confusion to awakening. You'll watch the story unfold from the withering of the lotus and sprouting of the Bodhi tree through the Buddha's attainment of liberation.

A driver picks you up from your hotel in Luang Prabang Old Town and brings you to the theatre. After the main performance ends, you can stay for a 10-15 minute farewell song and dance. It's optional, so you can leave when the play finishes if you prefer. The driver then takes you back to your hotel. The theatre is wheelchair accessible, and public transportation options are nearby if you want to arrive on your own.
