The experience
The tour starts with pickup from your hotel or airport and moves through Kuwait City's defining landmarks. You'll see the Kuwait Towers standing on the Persian Gulf promontory, stop at the Grand Mosque (the largest in Kuwait at 45,000 square meters with 144 windows and teakwood doors), and pass the Seif Palace with its gold-plated roof. The Sheikh Jaber Causeway, stretching 36 kilometers across the water, offers photo stops as you head toward the desert camp area near Subiya.
Culture and history fill the middle hours. The itinerary includes the National Museum, Tareq Rajab Museum, and Sadu House to explore weaving traditions, plus the American Cultural Centre, originally built as a hospital by the Dutch Reformed Church in the early 20th century. You'll also visit the Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Cultural Centre, the largest opera house in the Middle East. A modern mall with views of the city and sea breaks up the route.
The desert portion brings a shift in pace. Camel rides and ATV thrills take over, and you'll see abandoned buildings covered in street art scattered across the dunes. The day ends with sunset over the desert before the tour moves to the Old Souk, Kuwait's oldest market, where you can browse handcrafts, perfume and spices, or grab a meal from Arab, Indian, Turkish, Lebanese or Persian food stalls. The return journey includes drop-off at your hotel or airport.
