The experience

The day starts with pickup at 8am from your hotel. Your driver and guide take you to the Giraffe Centre, arriving around 9am depending on traffic. There you spend 90 minutes with one of the centre's guides learning about the endangered giraffes on site: how they were rescued, the names they've been given, and the adaptive behaviors that let them survive. You get close to the animals and hear directly about the conservation work happening across the country.

At noon you leave for Carnivore restaurant. You'll spend two hours there eating roasted meat (beef, lamb, chicken, game) cooked over charcoal and carved at your table by the staff. The meal includes side dishes, an array of sauces, soup, desserts and Kenyan coffee. Between the Giraffe Centre and lunch, your guide also takes you past the Karen Blixen Museum, where you learn the story of the white settler depicted in the film "Out of Africa" and how she shaped the lives of local people. After lunch you're dropped back at your hotel, marking the end of the tour.
