Hit all four landmarks in a single morning without planning the route

This six-hour city tour covers Almaty's most visited sites: the mountain resort of Shymbulak, the Koktobe panoramic viewpoint, the central Green Bazaar, and Park 28 Panfilov's Guardsmen with its cathedral. A guide in English or Russian leads the route; pickup from your hotel is included, and you choose when to eat lunch. The cable car to Shymbulak is optional at checkout.

The Experience

The tour starts at 9 a.m. from your hotel and heads straight to Shymbulak in the Tien Shen mountains, arriving by 9:40. You spend roughly two hours there before the guide drives you back to central Almaty around noon. The vehicle is comfortable and the guide handles the navigation, so you don't need to arrange transport or figure out which stops matter most.

After Shymbulak, the itinerary moves through the city's core: the Green Bazaar (a large outdoor market), the Rakhat chocolate shop, Park 28 Panfilov's Guardsmen and its cathedral. Lunch is at 1:30 p.m. and is not included, so you eat where you choose. By 2:30 p.m. you're at Koktobe, the popular tourist viewpoint with panoramic views over the city and the mountains beyond. The tour wraps by 3 p.m. at the meeting point.

The guide speaks English or Russian and is there to answer questions and point out what matters at each stop. Public transportation runs nearby if you want to extend the day on your own. Infants sit on an adult's lap; the pace suits all fitness levels.

Top questions

What's the difference between Shymbulak and Koktobe on this tour?

Shymbulak is a mountain resort in the Tien Shen range where you spend about two hours in the morning; Koktobe is a viewpoint in the city itself where you stop for roughly 30 minutes in the afternoon to see the panoramic view. The cable car at Shymbulak is optional and costs extra.

Does the tour include lunch?

Lunch is not included. You have time to eat at 1:30 p.m. in central Almaty, and you choose where and what you eat.

How does pickup work if I'm staying outside the city center?

Hotel pickup is included, so the guide collects you from your accommodation. If public transportation is more convenient for your location, options run nearby.

What language does the guide speak?

The guide speaks English or Russian. You choose your preferred language when you book.

Can I skip any of the stops on this tour?

The itinerary covers four main sites—Shymbulak, the Green Bazaar, Park 28 Panfilov's Guardsmen and Koktobe—as a fixed route. The guide leads the full sequence, though lunch at 1:30 p.m. is your own time to step away.
