The experience
Two days means you trade a hotel for the ranch itself. You're picked up at your location and brought out to Taiburyldyn Shabysy Ranch, where you choose your horse: an Orlov, English Thoroughbred, or traditional Kazakh breed, matched to your experience level. The first ride takes you across the steppe to take in the terrain. Afterward, a traditional Kazakh lunch is served in a yurt during warmer months or in the ranch's dining area when it's cooler. In the afternoon, you saddle up again and ride to the Kabanbai Batyr Mausoleum, learning about this legendary hero while the steppe stretches out around you. That evening brings a homemade Kazakh dinner and a private sauna session.
The second day starts with breakfast, then another ride through the steppe and along the Nura River. After lunch, you have time to settle before a final dinner and sauna before transport back to your location. The ranch owners and team speak English and manage the logistics. You handle the riding. Horses here are well-trained and calm, and experienced guides ride with you. This is not a sightseeing tour where you watch from a vehicle. You're in the saddle for the whole experience, which is why beginners are welcome but should expect to spend real time on horseback each day.
