The experience
You meet your guide at Sobe Beach in Yomitan village, about an hour from Naha Airport. After a safety briefing and paddling lesson on the sand, you push off into crystal-clear water and glide toward the west coast's hidden beaches. The guide leads you to Tobe or Yubanta Beach, where you can rest, swim or take photos before paddling back to where you started. The whole outing takes three hours.
The guide speaks English and Japanese, and the activity suits families and beginners: children from age 4 can join if a parent or guardian is with them. You get a paddleboard, marine shoes and all the instruction you need to feel confident on the water. The guide also photographs you during the paddle, so you leave with images of the day.
