The experience
The guide picks your snorkeling site each morning based on the sea conditions, so you're always going to the best reef that day. You'll spend three hours in and around the water exploring colorful coral and tropical fish, with a genuine chance of encountering wild sea turtles. They're not guaranteed, but they're common enough that the operator built the activity around them. The boat stays small and the group stays manageable, which means the guide can watch for turtles and adjust the pace if someone needs a break.
Free pickup means you don't need a rental car or a taxi to get to the beach. The operator collects you from your hotel and brings you back after the snorkeling ends, so the whole logistics piece is handled. Snorkeling equipment is provided and fitted to you before you get in the water. If you've never snorkeled before, the guide walks you through it. Drinks and snacks come onboard, and you get a towel and complimentary photos the guide takes during the trip.
One thing worth knowing: the activity requires you to be in good health and physically fit to snorkel, with no disorders affecting your ears, respiratory system or circulatory system. You'll need to complete a health declaration before the trip. Children can join from age 6 onward, and infants can come along if they stay with an adult (they don't snorkel).

Top questions

Can I snorkel in Ishigaki if I've never done it before?

What are the three snorkeling beaches and how does the guide choose which one?
Blue Cave, Osaki Beach, and Yonehara Beach are the three sites. The guide picks the location each morning based on that day's sea conditions (wind, waves and visibility), so you're always going to the best reef available. You won't know which beach until the morning of your trip.
How often do you actually see sea turtles on this snorkeling trip?
Sea turtles are common in Ishigaki's waters and the operator built this activity around the chance to encounter them, but they're not guaranteed. Spotting depends on the day, the site and the season, so while you have a good chance, it's not a certainty.
Does the pickup work if I'm staying outside the main town?
Free pickup is included from your hotel in Ishigaki. If you're staying in a remote location, confirm your address with the operator when you book to make sure the pickup reaches you.
