What level do you need to be to join? The answer is: any. Organizers and other players teach and give tips throughout the three hours if you want them, and the games stay friendly rather than competitive. You show up in comfortable clothes and indoor shoes, and the rest is pickup basketball the way it actually works: people rotating in and out, games forming around whoever is there that day. Basketballs are provided.

You're playing with local Japanese and with foreigners who live in Osaka, which means the court is a mix of people who know each other and newcomers. The organizers make sure that happens on purpose. This is the largest international sports community in the city, built around meeting new friends as much as playing. Water, a locker room and showers are available on-site, so you can shower off before heading back into the city.

Bring indoor sports shoes. The facility doesn't rent them. Public transportation options are nearby if you need them to get there. Guides speak English and Japanese, so language isn't a barrier to understanding the games or the people you're playing with.
