Wear a kimono and photograph yourself transformed

A kimono photo session in Naha where you choose from over 500 traditional kimonos, get your hair and makeup done, and take unlimited photographs with staff assistance. The whole experience takes less than an hour, and everything from undergarments to accessories is provided so you arrive empty-handed. Staff handle the setup and can assist with posing, but you control the camera and the number of shots.

The experience

You walk in, pick a kimono from a collection spanning colors and patterns, and the staff takes over the transformation. Hair gets set with ornaments (for women), lipstick applied, then the full dressing in layers and accessories. The whole process moves quickly (less than an hour from arrival to finished photos), so you can fit this between other sightseeing without reshaping your day.

Once dressed, you shoot as much as you want. Staff position small props to help frame the photos and can assist with posing, but the camera is yours. There's no limit on the number of shots, so you can take your time finding angles and expressions. When you're done, you change back, pay, and leave with the photos on your phone or camera.

Everything arrives with you already included: undergarments, tabi socks, footwear, hair ornaments and the styling itself. Infants and small children can come in a stroller. The studio is near public transportation, so getting there doesn't require a car or advance planning.
