The experience
Okinawa is where karate was born, and this tour takes you to the places that shaped it. You visit the monument to Kanryo Higaonna and Chojun Miyagi, two of the style's foundational figures, then move through Okinogu, a shrine central to Okinawan culture. The route connects the historical spots (the ones most travelers can't find on their own) in a single arc, so you see how the lineage actually moved through the island rather than jumping between isolated landmarks.
The real draw is meeting Tetsuhiro Hokama, a Goju-ryu 10th dan master still teaching. You'll see karate historical goods and artifacts that document the style's evolution, and you'll have a guide who speaks English or Japanese and can explain what you're standing in front of. A karate goods shop rounds out the stops, so you can pick up something if you want it. Lunch is included, and the vehicle is air-conditioned: useful in Okinawa's heat.
The tour runs 5 to 7 hours, which means it takes up most of a day but leaves time for other plans in Naha or elsewhere on the island. Pickup is included, so you don't arrange your own transport to the starting point.

Is this one for you?The 5 to 7 hour commitment means you can fit this into a day trip to Okinawa or combine it with other activities in Naha, but not rush through it: the stops and the time with the master require the full window the tour holds.
