The experience

The bus departs Hiroshima Station and heads first to the Atomic Bomb Dome, the preserved skeletal frame of the Hiroshima Prefectural Industrial Promotion Hall that stood near the epicenter of the August 6, 1945 bombing. From there, you walk through Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park, which holds over 50 peace monuments and memorials. The Peace Memorial Museum, open since 1954, houses photographs, personal artifacts, and survivor accounts that document the bombing's impact and the city's path toward recovery. Note: from February 16–21, 2026, the museum undergoes exhibit replacement, and the tour visits the Hiroshima National Peace Memorial Hall instead.

After the morning in Hiroshima, you board a return ferry to Miyajima Island. If you selected lunch, you'll eat Hiroshima okonomiyaki at a local restaurant on the island. The dish is built in layers: batter, cabbage, pork, noodles, sauce, bonito flakes, and mayo. Vegetarian okonomiyaki (no pork, no seafood) is available on request. Those without lunch have free time to explore the island independently.

Itsukushima Shrine, built in 593 and largely reconstructed in 1168, sits on the sea because ancient people believed Miyajima Island was sacred. Its signature feature is the Otorii gate, a freestanding torii that rises to the same height as the Great Buddha in Nara: its pillars measure 10 meters in diameter. At low tide, you can walk out to it on foot. Nearby, Daishoin Temple holds colorful Jizo guardian statues, a resting Buddha figure, and lanterns scattered through the grounds. The tour returns to Hiroshima Station by late afternoon, with Wi-Fi available on the bus throughout the day.
