The experience
You'll climb into a custom go-kart and spend roughly two hours driving through Naha's streets in a costume. Pick from superheroes, anime characters or other options before you start. The guide leads the route, which passes through downtown Naha, runs along Kokusai Street (the main shopping and tourist strip stretching two kilometers), and includes a 10-minute break at Senaga Island, where white-washed Mediterranean-style buildings line the waterfront and planes take off from the nearby airport. Bystanders wave and photograph you as you drive. The guide captures the whole thing on camera.
The go-kart handles city traffic, so you're navigating real streets, not a closed track. All fees, taxes and the vehicle itself are included in the price. You'll need a valid driver's license: either an International Driving Permit recognized under the Geneva Convention, a Japanese translation of a license from Switzerland, Germany, France, Taiwan, Belgium or Monaco (obtained through the Japan Automobile Federation), or a SOFA Driving License if you're with US Forces Japan. The guide speaks English, Hindi or Japanese depending on availability.
