The experience
Furano and Biei sit about two hours from Sapporo and are built around flowers: lavender in summer, tulips in spring, sunflowers in autumn. The day starts with hotel pickup and a drive to Furano Cheese Factory, where you watch the cheese-making process and sample fresh dairy products before heading to Farm Tomita, the region's most famous lavender field. Lunch happens in downtown Furano with free time to explore on your own.
After lunch, the route splits into four options. You can visit the Jam Factory and Anpanman Shop (a character-themed attraction), then move on to Glass Forest Craft Shop and Ningle Terrace, a village of wooden cottages selling handcrafted goods. Or swap those stops for Rokkatei's confectionery shop and Furano Winery, still ending at Ningle Terrace. If you want landscape over shopping, choose the Blue Pond route (a striking blue lake ringed by birch trees), plus Shirahige Waterfall and Shikisai no Oka, a hillside with panoramic views and seasonal flowers. The fourth option trades Blue Pond for Nakafurano Lavender Field and keeps Shikisai no Oka and Biei Patchwork Road, a scenic drive through rolling hills and flower fields. All routes include Patchwork Road or similar countryside drives.
The vehicle is private, so up to three passengers travel together without sharing with other groups. Your driver speaks English and handles all driving. You don't need a car or navigation. Hotel pickup and drop-off cover up to two locations within 5 kilometers of central Sapporo. Fuel, insurance and tax are included. If you're traveling with children under six, request a car seat or baby seat when you book. The tour suits all fitness levels since most time is spent driving or walking short distances at each stop. Note that parking fees at some sites (like Blue Pond) and highway tolls are not included in the price.
