Walk through a cave lit to show what tens of thousands of years built

Cave Okinawa is a 200-meter limestone cave walk in Uruma with illuminated stalactites and renewed pathways suited to all ages. You move through the route at your own pace, seeing formations that took tens of thousands of years to form. The cave sits close to Ishikawa Interchange and stays open in rain, making it easy to fit between other Okinawa stops.

The experience

The route runs 200 meters through a single limestone cave where stalactites hang from the ceiling, each one built over tens of thousands of years. The lighting has been renewed to show the formations clearly, and the pathways are wide enough that children, older adults and anyone in between can walk through without scrambling or climbing. You move at your own pace. There is no guide narration or group timing to follow.

The cave sits close to Ishikawa Interchange, so it takes about 30 minutes to reach from most Okinawa locations. It stays open rain or shine: in fact, a rainy day outside makes the cave an easy indoor stop between other sightseeing. No reservation is required, though the cave closes at 5pm and stops admitting visitors at 5pm, so plan accordingly. When you arrive, search for the exact location on Google Maps. Standard car navigation does not display it.
