  • Travel to YS Falls

The experience

You're picked up at your hotel and driven to YS Falls on Jamaica's South Coast. The driver meets you, explains the route and journey time, and shares information about the island along the way. Once you arrive, a shuttle takes you up to the falls, where you can stay as long as you want. The site has two pools: one fed by fresh underground and above-ground springs, better suited for children and non-swimmers, and another warm water pool. River shoes are recommended because some areas are rocky.

At the falls, lifeguards are stationed throughout to help you navigate the different levels. Steps run along the side of the cascades, letting you climb to various heights and swim in pools at each level. The whole setup means you're not locked into a schedule or a guide's pace. You move between the seven waterfalls and pools on your own terms, stopping where you want and staying as long as suits you.

The tour is transportation and access only. Entry to YS Falls costs $21 per person and is not included. The vehicle is air-conditioned, and the driver handles all the logistics of getting you there and back. If you can't swim, the natural pool fed by springs is calmer and designed for that. Lifeguards will point you toward the areas safe for your comfort level.
