The experience

You're picked up at your Runaway Bay hotel lobby and driven east along the coast toward Ocho Rios. A 45-minute ride that gives you time to photograph the blue water and ask your guide about Jamaica's history. The vehicle is air-conditioned and non-smoking, and the guide handles all the logistics so you don't have to find the site or wait in line.

At Blue Hole, you get roughly 30 minutes in the water before your guide leads a five-minute walk through the woods to Secret Falls, where you spend another hour and 15 minutes. Life jackets are available if you want one. After the water sites, the tour moves to a shopping stop and then to Scotchies Outdoor Garden Restaurant, Jamaica's top jerk chicken and pork spot, where you can eat and browse. The return trip retraces the coast back to your hotel.

The whole day runs about six hours from pickup to drop-off. Bring swimwear, a towel, sunscreen, water shoes, a camera, and extra cash for lunch and any souvenirs you find while shopping.
