You’ll glide through Verona’s city center by e-bike with a local guide, passing Juliet’s Balcony and Roman gates before climbing easily to panoramic hills above the rooftops. Enjoy riverside paths, quiet medieval lanes, and finish among cafés near San Zeno Basilica — all with stories and small moments you’ll remember.
We were already wobbling a little under the Arco dei Gavi when our guide, Marco, grinned and said, “Don’t worry — the e-bikes do all the hard work.” He was right. The first few minutes took us through ancient gates and into streets that smelled faintly of coffee and old stone. I tried to read the Latin on Porta Borsari but honestly, my Italian is barely passable — Marco just laughed and pointed out a carving I’d missed. There were locals walking their dogs and someone singing (badly) in Piazza Erbe as we rolled past.
I didn’t expect to feel so light climbing up the Torricelle hills. The e-bike just hummed along while we wound through green patches above Verona. At Castel San Pietro, the city spread out below us — red rooftops, the Adige curving like a ribbon, bells echoing somewhere far off. I leaned on the wall for a minute longer than everyone else; it’s one of those views you want to pocket for later. The air was cooler up there too, with this earthy smell from last night’s rain still clinging to the grass.
Coming back down felt like flying. We coasted over Ponte Pietra — you can see how old it is if you look at your tires bumping over the stones — then ducked into Sottoriva where everything got quieter and shadier. Marco told us stories about gladiators outside the Arena (he did voices), which made some kids nearby giggle. By San Zeno, my legs were tired but in that good way. We ended near a café where people actually nodded hello instead of just ignoring tourists. I still think about that view from Castel San Pietro sometimes, especially when I hear church bells at home.
