The experience

The owners themselves lead you through the ancient barrique cellar: a room built in the 1700s that still holds the winery's aging wines. The 40-minute tour covers how they make their wines and what happens inside those old wooden barrels. You'll learn the specifics of their process before you taste anything, so the wines make more sense when they arrive.

The tasting runs 80 minutes and moves through their best bottles with a board of local salami, cheese and bread. The owners pay attention to what you eat and don't eat, and they answer questions as you go, whether you're deep into wine or just starting to pay attention to it. The pace is yours. There's no rush through the glasses.

Corte Fornello sits in the village of Fornello, a quiet corner where the tasting happens without crowds or noise. Bottled water comes with the experience. If you're under 18, soft drinks replace the wine tastings, and the rest of the day stays the same.
