You’ll clip in above Tuscany’s wild Cocciglia Gorges for a guided zip line adventure over blue river water, try wobbly bridges with friends or family, and relax afterward among trees or by the beach. All equipment is included — just bring your nerves (and maybe an extra snack).
Gloves on, helmet a bit crooked (I fixed it twice), and suddenly there’s this hush before the first zip. Our guide Marco grinned like he’d seen it all before — maybe he had. The canyon below looked impossibly blue, almost fake, but you could hear the river moving fast in some places, slow in others. My palms were already sweaty before I even clipped in. “Just lean back,” Marco said, so I did, and then — whoosh — air in my teeth and that weird mix of fear and joy you only get from doing something slightly mad.
The Canyon Park zip line is longer than I expected — over 100 meters, apparently — and for a few seconds it felt like floating right above the water. There’s this moment where all you hear is wind and your own heartbeat. After landing (not as gracefully as I’d hoped), we tried the Nepalese bridges and these wobbly wooden planks that made everyone laugh or curse under their breath. One kid ahead of us kept shouting “Mamma mia!” every time the bridge bounced. You could smell pine needles and something earthy after last night’s rain.
I liked that you don’t need any experience for this day trip — just decent shoes and a willingness to look silly in front of strangers. Marco checked our gear at every stop, which honestly made me trust the whole setup more than I thought I would. There’s a picnic area tucked away nearby with hammocks strung between trees (I almost fell asleep there after lunch). We didn’t make it down to the little river beach but saw families heading that way with towels slung over their shoulders, looking happy to just hang out by the water for a while.
Even now, when I think about that first step off the platform or how quiet it got halfway across the gorge, it still gives me goosebumps — in a good way. If you’re anywhere near Tuscany and want something different than another museum or piazza, this canyon zip line is worth it just for that feeling alone.
