Five named stops and a snorkel break in two hours, all from one boat.

This boat snorkeling activity departs from Taormina and runs the coast through five stops—the Cave of Love, Isola Bella, Blue Grotto, Coral Cave and Baia di Mazzarò—with a 20-minute snorkel and refreshment break in clear water. The group stays small, a live guide speaks English and Italian, and snorkel masks are available on request with a deposit.

The Experience

The boat leaves for Taormina Bay and Giardini Naxos, moving through caves carved by waves and coves most visitors never see. You pass the Cave of Love first, then Isola Bella—the natural jewel the coast is known for—and the Blue Grotto, where the water reflects in shades of blue the photographs do not quite capture. The Coral Cave comes next, its formations visible in water clear enough to see the bottom without effort.

At Baia di Mazzarò, the boat stops for 20 minutes. This is where you get in the water with a snorkel mask (bring your own or request one with a deposit) and move through the seabed at your own pace. Seasonal fruit and drinks arrive on board while you are still in the water or just after, so the break holds both the swim and the rest without rushing either one. The route ends at St Nicholas, a fishing village on the water where the boat turns back.

Small groups mean the boat does not feel crowded, and the guide—English or Italian, depending on the departure—moves through the stops without the script feel of larger tours. Refreshing drinks come throughout, and the whole thing holds inside two hours, which leaves the rest of your day in Taormina untouched.

What’s included

  • Snorkel masks on request with deposit.
  • refreshing drinks throughout the trip.
  • seasonal fresh fruit during the snorkeling stop at Baia di Mazzarò.

Is this one for you?Two hours leaves room for a morning or afternoon in Taormina itself, so you can pair this with the town and the beaches without the day becoming a single activity. The small group and the fixed route mean you move at a steady pace—no waiting for stragglers, no detours—which is what makes five stops fit inside the time.

Top questions

What exactly is Isola Bella and why is it on this snorkeling trip?

Isola Bella is a small natural island off the Taormina coast, known as the pearl of the area—a protected marine reserve with clear water and rock formations. The boat passes close enough to see it in detail and it is one of the five named stops on the route.

Is snorkeling gear included or do I need to bring my own mask?

Snorkel masks are available on request with a deposit. You can bring your own if you prefer, and the 20-minute stop at Baia di Mazzarò is when you use it in the water.

How long do we actually spend snorkeling in the water?

The snorkeling stop at Baia di Mazzarò lasts 20 minutes. The rest of the two-hour trip is spent moving between the five coastal stops—caves, coves and Isola Bella—by boat.

What language does the guide speak?

The live guide speaks English or Italian depending on the departure you choose.

What drinks and food are included on the boat?

Refreshing drinks are included throughout the trip, and seasonal fresh fruit is served during the snorkeling stop at Baia di Mazzarò.

Can I do this snorkeling trip if I am not a strong swimmer?

The activity is suitable for all physical fitness levels. The snorkel stop is in a bay with clear, calm water, and you control how deep or far you venture into the water.
