The Experience

Your driver meets you at the ship's gate in Messina and drives you inland in 45 minutes to Castelmola, a village perched on a cliff overlooking the Ionian Sea. You'll have about an hour to walk its narrow streets, taste the local almond wine, and stand in front of views across to Mount Etna and the coastline below. The village itself is small enough to cover on foot, and the vantage point is the reason it sits where it does.

From there, you move on to Taormina for 2 to 3 hours of free time. The town spreads across a hillside on Sicily's east coast and holds the Ancient Greek Theater, luxury shops, and seaside architecture that has drawn visitors for centuries.
