The experience
You board in the afternoon at Marina di Campo and head out to recover nets that were set earlier. Working alongside Commander Gaetano, a fisherman for over 40 years, you haul in the day's catch together, learning how sustainable fishing with nets and pots actually works. Once the nets go back in the water, the boat moves to a quiet cove where the real shift happens: Gaetano trades his fishing clothes for a chef's apron and you cook the fish you just pulled from the sea.
While dinner comes together on board, you can swim at sunset, snorkel in the cove, or help with the cooking. The afternoon is yours to shape. Aperitif, wine, beer and soft drinks flow throughout. The meal itself is the full catch: first and second courses of fish, coffee after, all eaten together with music and conversation as you motor back to port. Life jackets and all snorkeling equipment are provided. You bring sunscreen, a towel and a swimsuit.
The boat stays under 12 people, which means it fits families and small groups without feeling crowded. Children from age 3 can participate in the snorkeling and fishing, though infants ride on an adult's lap. The afternoon pace is unhurried. There's no expertise required, only willingness to get your hands wet and try something different on the water.

Is this one for you?The afternoon departure and 6-hour duration mean you need a free block from mid-day onward, and the fishing and cooking elements require you to be comfortable getting involved rather than watching from the sidelines. If you want to snorkel without the fishing and cooking, look for a straight snorkeling boat. This one is built around the full cycle of catching and eating what you pull from the water.

How much of the 6 hours is actually spent fishing versus swimming?
The afternoon starts with net recovery and fishing, then shifts to the cove where you can snorkel, swim or help cook. There's no strict split. The balance depends on what's happening with the catch and what you want to do while dinner cooks.
What if I get seasick easily?
