The experience
The boat leaves Carloforte and moves slowly along San Pietro's northern and western coast, passing Punta Nera's dark cliffs, the monolith rock formation, and the high natural theater of cliffs and caves where the seabed fills with fish. You snorkel and swim at five stops: the cove with the island's most beautiful beach, the bay called Le Spine, the deep silent inlet with barren rock walls, and La Bobba beach with its calm sandy seabed. The route often crosses paths with dolphins. Between stops, the boat sails close to the coast so you can see the landscape without leaving your seat.
Snorkeling equipment is provided and ready to use. You bring only a swimsuit and sunscreen. An aperitif waits on board before lunch, which is prepared with typical local ingredients and served during the midday stop at Le Spine. Shade awning covers part of the boat, a restroom is on board, and bottled water is available throughout the day. The guide speaks Italian and narrates the route and the sites as you pass them.
The seven-hour duration leaves the morning or the late afternoon free for other plans in Carloforte or elsewhere on the island. Public transportation options are available near the departure point. Infants sit on an adult's lap. The boat suits all fitness levels, and children from age 5 travel on the tour.
