The tour begins in Santa Marina, the island's main port and the lively heart of Salina. You walk the characteristic cobbled streets lined with brightly coloured Aeolian houses, their doors and windows framed by bougainvillea. The Church of Santa Marina stands at the seafront with its iconic bell tower. Your guide explains how Salina once thrived as a commercial hub, moving Malvasia wine and sea salt (the mineral that gave the island its name) across the Mediterranean.
From there the route moves through Malfa and Pollara, each village revealing a different face of the island. You pass through the Monte Fossa delle Felci and Monte dei Porri Nature Reserve, where the landscape shifts between cultivation and wild growth. The tour includes an exclusive tasting of typical local products: Malvasia delle Lipari, the renowned wine the island built its fortune on, paired with Salina capers and snacks. Bottled water comes with you throughout the morning or afternoon.
