The experience
The tuk tuk picks up from your location and moves through Rome on a fixed route that strings together the landmarks most visitors spend days hunting down separately. You pass through Via dei Fori Imperiali (the tree-lined street that opens onto the Colosseum), then continue to Circus Maximus in the valley between two hills, Piazza della Bocca della Verità where the Mouth of Truth sits in a church wall, and across to the Janiculum for a view of the whole city. The vehicle stops at each major site long enough to step out and look, or to stay seated and listen to the audio guide explain what you're seeing.
The audio guide runs in English, Spanish, Italian, French and four other languages, so you hear the story of each place (the Triton Fountain at Piazza Barberini designed by Bernini, the Trevi Fountain where the film La Dolce Vita was shot, the Quirinale Palace that has housed Italy's president since 1946) without needing a live guide talking over the engine noise. The tuk tuk itself is the point: it's narrow enough to navigate Rome's tight streets and small enough that you're not boxed into a tour bus, but it's also electric and eco-friendly, and it moves fast enough to cover ground. Side rain covers and blankets in winter mean the tour runs regardless of weather.
The route ends on Via Veneto, the uphill street in the historic center that leads from Piazza Barberini toward Porta Pinciana. From there, you're dropped back where you started. The whole loop takes three hours, and the driver handles all the stops and timing. You just sit, listen and look.

Is this one for you?Book the three-hour tour if you want to see Rome's major ancient sites in a single morning or afternoon without spending the day on foot. The tuk tuk's size and speed let you cover ground that would take hours to walk, and the audio guide means you don't need to hire a live guide or read a map. You just ride and listen. If you'd rather have a live guide walking you through each site in detail, or if you want to spend more time inside the monuments, look for a walking tour or a guided tour with entry tickets included.

Top questions
What happens if it rains?
It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.
What is the Mouth of Truth and why is it on this tour?
The Mouth of Truth is an ancient marble mask built into the wall of a church at Piazza della Bocca della Verità. Legend says women accused of adultery were brought before it and told to swear they had never cheated. If they lied, the Mouth would cut off their hand. The tuk tuk stops there so you can see it in person.
Does the tour include entry to the Colosseum or Vatican City?
No. The tour passes by these sites and stops so you can see them from outside, and the audio guide explains their history. If you want to go inside either one, you'd need to book separate tickets and arrange that visit on a different day.
Can I bring luggage or a large backpack on the tuk tuk?
No. The tuk tuk has no trunk, so suitcases and bulky packages won't fit. A small daypack is fine, but plan to leave large bags at your hotel or a luggage storage service in the city.
What languages does the audio guide offer?
The audio guide is available in English, Spanish, Italian, French and four additional languages. You choose your language when you book.
Is there a minimum age to ride?
Yes, riders must be at least 13 years old.
