The Experience

The boat leaves with a full tank and a skipper who has spent the morning learning what you want from the day. You'll see Palazzo D'Avalos, the former prison that rises from the water, and decide on the spot whether to swim there or move on. The Port of Corricella comes next—a working fishing village with houses painted in faded yellows and pinks—and you can either photograph it from the boat, dive in for a swim, or go ashore to eat at one of the waterfront restaurants while the skipper waits. The choice is yours at each stop.

Vivara, a nature reserve island, offers another swim break. If you want to cross to Ischia, the skipper will take you to the Bay of San Pancrazio to see the Grotta degli Innamorati, or to Pozzovecchio Beach—the filming location for the film Il Postino. Fuel costs run about €30 if you stay in Procida waters, or €70 if you venture to Ischia; the skipper helps arrange restaurant reservations if you want lunch ashore. The tour runs 5 to 6 hours, and you're in control of the pace.

The boat itself is a 9-meter gozzo with an automatic anchor, a large awning for shade, bow sun loungers, a fresh water shower and a mini fridge. Snorkelling equipment is on board, and a Bluetooth speaker and phone charger are there if you need them. Underwater photos and videos of your group come as part of the package—the skipper has an underwater camera and will capture the moments you want to keep.
