A traditional sailing boat that stops where you want to swim

Private sailboat tour of the Conero Riviera departing from Numana, carrying up to six passengers for 3.5 hours of sailing past named beaches and coves. You pick which anchorage suits you (Mezzavalle Beach, the Two Sisters sea stacks, or Il Trave reef), and the boat adjusts the route to your preference. Snorkelling equipment and an inflatable mattress are included. Local wine and a cold platter of cheeses and cured meats are available as an add-on.

The experience

The DonMar leaves Numana port and sails past the smaller beaches of La Spiaggiola and Spiaggia del Frate before heading toward Sirolo's trio of named beaches and the rugged Monte Conero coastline. What makes this boat different is the freedom to anchor where you choose: if the Two Sisters (two triangular sea stacks rising from the water at Mezzavalle) call to you, that becomes the stop. If you'd rather drift at Il Trave, an 800-meter reef that closes the bay of Portonovo, the route shifts. The boat holds only six passengers, which means no crowding and no fixed itinerary that ignores what you actually want to see.

Swimming and snorkelling are built into the day. Snorkelling gear is on board, and Il Trave reef is the best spot to use it: the nooks and crannies of this underwater rock formation hold marine life worth watching. An inflatable mattress floats you between the boat and the water if you prefer not to swim. Bottled water (still or sparkling) is always available. If you add the food option at checkout, you'll be served a mixed platter of local cold cuts, cheeses, and Ascoli olives, paired with Verdicchio white wine or local craft beers. The boat has a freshwater shower on board and cushioned seating: small comforts that matter during a long afternoon at sea.

Wind permitting, the skipper will show you how a traditional sailing boat is rigged and manoeuvred as you move between stops. The tour runs 3.5 hours, and within that window you're free to linger at whichever beach or cove appeals to you. The boat operates in English and Italian, and children from age five are welcome. Infants sit on an adult's lap. The operator notes the tour is not recommended for people prone to seasickness.

Is this one for you?Book the tour with food if you want a full afternoon on the water with a meal included. Without food, you're paying for the sailing, the swimming stops, and the snorkelling gear alone. The small group size means the skipper can anchor wherever the six of you want to stop, so this suits anyone who values choice over a fixed itinerary.
