The experience

What makes this tour work is the boat itself. Roberto's vessel has a large sundeck, stern seating, an awning for shade, and a ladder into the water: details that matter when you're spending four hours on the sea. You depart from Vieste's tourist port and follow the coast north, passing the Sant'Eufemia lighthouse and the old town (called Ripa), then the Pizzomunno, a white monolith that rises from the water and is the symbol of the city. The route continues past Arco di San Felice, a natural arch carved into the cliff, and several Saracen towers that once guarded the coast from raids.

The swimming stop is the centerpiece. Baia di San Felice, where the tour typically stops, has a sandy bottom and shallow water, making it safe for children and weaker swimmers. The arch towers above the bay and vegetation reflects in the water. If you prefer a different bay (Baia di Campi, Cala della Pergola, or Baia di Vignanotica), you can agree on it with Roberto before or during the tour. The final stop is Baia delle Zagare, where the Faraglioni (two tall rock formations) rise from the sea. Navigation time is built into the four-hour duration, so you're not paying for travel time separately.

Roberto speaks English, Italian and German, and life jackets are supplied. Infants and small children can come along. If your child uses a stroller, it travels with you. The boat has a cooler bag available if you want to bring drinks or snacks. Fuel costs €50 extra, added at checkout.

Is this one for you?Four hours is long enough to see the entire Gargano coast and swim, but short enough to fit into a morning or afternoon and leave the rest of your day free. If you need a longer exploration or want to visit inland sites, a different tour may suit you better.

Top questions

What languages is the tour guided in?

Live guide in English, German and Italian.

What happens if it rains?

It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.

What is the Pizzomunno and why does the tour stop there?

The Pizzomunno is a white limestone monolith that rises directly from the sea near Vieste and is the city's most recognizable landmark. The boat passes close enough to see it clearly and photograph it, and it marks one of the main waypoints on the route along the Gargano coast.

Can we swim during the tour, and is the water safe for children?

Yes, a swimming stop is included. Baia di San Felice, the typical stop, has a sandy seabed and shallow water that is safe for children and less confident swimmers. You can agree with skipper Roberto to stop at a different bay if you prefer, and life jackets are supplied for everyone.

How long does the tour take and what is included in that time?

The tour is four hours total, and that duration includes all navigation time between stops. The route covers the full Gargano coastline from Vieste to Baia delle Zagare, passing lighthouses, sea caves, natural arches and several bays. You're not paying separately for travel between sites.

Is this tour suitable for very small children or infants?

Yes. The boat has an awning for shade, life jackets are supplied, and infants can sit on an adult's lap. If your child uses a stroller or pram, it travels with you on the boat. The shallow bay where you swim is also safe for young children.
