The experience
You board at the Port of Sperlonga with a skipper who holds a permit to navigate the protected Riviera di Ulisse regional park. The route is yours to shape: you choose the direction and which beaches to visit, and the skipper advises on the clearest waters and the sites worth stopping for. The boat is a traditional Gozzi with sun shelter and a large sunbathing area, stocked with pizza, prosecco and pool noodles for the day.
The tour passes Tiberio's grotto and the remains of the Emperor's villa as you leave the port, then heads toward a bay fed by spring water that flows directly from the cliff: the first snorkeling stop runs about 30 minutes, and swimmers can venture into a cave with stalagmites if they choose. The route continues toward Gaeta and Montagna Spaccata, an 11th-century sanctuary wedged between two cliffs and suspended over the sea, with rocky walls over 80 meters high and the Grotta del Turco nearby. A second snorkeling break explores the seabed of the Monte Orlando marine reserve. On the return, you pass Serapo Beach, an islet said to resemble Ulysses' ship, the Devil's Well cave, the Temple of San Francesco, and Torre Truglia, Sperlonga's symbol, before heading back to port.
Parking is at the Parking delle Vite with shuttle service or the public lot on via dell'Angolo, a seven-minute walk from the boarding point. The boat departs on schedule. Late arrivals will not be held. Snorkeling is optional (you can stay on board if you prefer), and the tour suits groups of up to 12, making it a fit for families, birthdays and celebrations.

Is this one for you?The fixed skipper and permit to navigate the protected park mean you get access to the clearest waters and the most restricted sites: places a shared boat cannot reach. Bring your own snorkeling gear if you plan to use it. The tour does not provide masks or fins.

Top questions
What languages is the tour guided in?
Live guide in English and Italian.
What happens if it rains?
It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.
What is Montagna Spaccata and why is it on the route?
Montagna Spaccata is a sanctuary built in the 11th century on a rock wedged between two cliffs and suspended over the sea, near Gaeta. The site draws thousands of visitors each year for its dramatic 80-meter rocky walls that drop steeply into the water and natural caves including the Grotta del Turco.
Can I choose not to snorkel during the two swimming stops?
Yes, snorkeling is optional. You can remain on board during the swim breaks if you prefer, though the skipper notes the spring-fed bay and the Monte Orlando marine reserve are worth entering.
What's included in the price, and is there a cost for snorkeling gear?
Pizza, prosecco, sun shelter and pool noodles are included on board. Snorkeling equipment is not provided by the tour operator, so you'll need to bring your own mask and fins if you plan to snorkel.
How do I get to the Port of Sperlonga, and where do I park?
The port is in Sperlonga's restricted traffic zone. Park at the Parking delle Vite, a private lot at the entrance with shuttle service to the port, or at the public parking on via dell'Angolo, a seven-minute walk from the boarding point marked by the Truglia Tower and ticket office.
