The experience
The drive from Lecce to Otranto takes 45 minutes through Mediterranean scrubland. Once there, you have free time to explore the old town on your own: the Cathedral, the Byzantine Saint Peter Church, the Castle and the walls that ring the ancient city, each one a layer of the Romans, Byzantines, Ottomans and Aragonese who lived here. You can stop at a local bakery for typical Puglian pastries or pack a lunch to carry to the beach.
From Otranto's waterfront, the tour moves to Turks' Bay, a 15-minute transfer away. This is the wildest stretch on the route: pine trees line a path that winds through coves you discover on foot, and the water is deep enough for swimming. Torre Sant'Andrea comes next, another 15 minutes on. The Faraglioni cove sits here with the clearest water in Puglia. You can swim down rock-carved steps or use the sandy beach nearby. Restaurants with sea-view terraces are close by if you want lunch. The last stop, Le Due Sorelle Beach, is only 5 minutes away: a long sandy stretch named for two rock formations that look like sisters, with viewpoints and swimming throughout.
Because this is a private tour, there's no group schedule to keep. You decide how long to linger at each beach, whether to swim or walk, and when to move on. The vehicle is air-conditioned, and free beach chairs and an umbrella are yours to use. The guide speaks English or Italian depending on which option you book.

Can I swim at all five beaches on this tour?
Yes. Otranto's waterfront beach allows swimming; Turks' Bay is deep enough for swimming among the coves; Torre Sant'Andrea has both rock-carved steps and a sandy beach for entry; and Le Due Sorelle is a long sandy beach designed for swimming. Bring a swimsuit if you plan to use the water.
