The experience
You arrive at the vineyard and walk out into the rows to see the grapes growing in the clayey soil that makes this corner of Lake Garda distinct. The guide explains what you're looking at: the native Lugana vine, the conditions that shape it, how the family harvests and what happens next. Then you move to the tasting, where four wines sit waiting: first a Lugana classic method sparkling wine called Chiaro di Luna, then a blend of Trebbiano di Lugana and Sauvignon blanc, followed by the traditional Lugana doc, and finally a Garda Merlot doc that grows in the same soil. Each one tastes different because of where it comes from and how it was made.
The food arrives as you taste: cold cuts, bread, an omelette, and Grana Padano. The kind of pairing that lets you taste how the wine and the place connect. After the glasses are empty, you walk through the cellar, both the new one and the old one, to see the tanks and barrels where the vinification takes place. The guide tells you the family history, the production methods, the daily work of keeping a vineyard running. By the end you understand not just what Lugana tastes like, but why.
